COACH MOORE'S TEAM POSITION
1. I believe all players should get playing time in games, some more, some less based on game situation, positional depth, daily performance, and overall performance to date (including training). 2. There is no single player or group of players who "deserve" any more time than any other it all must be EARNED. 3. There is no single player or few players around whom this team revolves--ALL PLAYERS are equally important to me and to Team Success. 4. Parents who have concerns about any aspect SHOULD CALL ME DIRECTLY, OR their coach, RESPECTING THE 24 HOUR COOLING OFF PERIOD FOLLOWING A GAME I ASKED FOR AT THE START OF THE SEASON. 5. I have no hidden agenda, no one is telling me what decisions to make, and I, like you and the girls, am not perfect but will always do what I feel the Team, and organization needs for success in all of my decisions. 6. I look at the Team and the kids as in the stage of Development--they are only young men and ladies with a lot of basketball to go, this experience does not and will not constitute their entire basketball existence and everyone needs to remember that it is a LEARNING experience as much or more than anything else. Winning is very important but not the only thing. 7. I do not expect parents to be negative in their communication to their son/daughter in the car, at home, or anywhere else regarding the team. BE POSITIVE AND SUPPORTIVE OF ALL INVOLVED, YOUR SON/DAUGHTER, HIS/HER TEAMMATES, THE COACH AND MANAGER ETC. Negative/Conflicting talk confuses the KIDS and puts them in a bad mental state about the Team. I also would remind parents/fans that during a game yelling at officials, opponents, and especially our own players or coach only embarrasses yourself and does no good for your son/daughter or his/her Team. Overall I feel the kids have worked hard and we are close to being very good. I am fully confident we will find a way to win. The bottom line here is this if the team is prepared and has the talent, coaches don't lose games players do. I hope the players have the desire, discipline and direction to be the best player they can be. I have found that every player wants to win but many aren't willing to pay the price necessary to win, which includes fitness and does not accept losing easily. To EVERYONE, the game doesn't lie, it will expose your weaknesses as well as strengths. Those parents that continue to make negative comments or feel it necessary to scream comments across the court during the game not only is it embarrassing to you but also to your son or daughter. There have been cases where very talent players have not been asked to return because of their parents. We have worked very hard to build a competitive program and this is a time to start playing like one, players need to step up some parents need to be more positive and supportive. I know I am only speaking about a few parents there are some great people and parents on these teams, my suggestion would be if negative comments are heard try and put an end to them. If everyone does there job the organization, coach, players and parents there is no reason this team shouldn't achieve the success they deserve.
THANKS
Coach Moore
